Artist's Comment:
"After the holding explores the moment when something that has been tightly held finally begins to release. Tension and chaos gather before breaking open, leaving fragments and traces in their wake. Scraped back areas bring a sense of lightness, as though space is slowly returning after intensity. Yet not everything disappears. Something always remains, altered, scattered, quieter perhaps, as the painting moves from weight towards release."
Poem for After the Holding
There is a place
where grief and anger
are no longer strangers.
They become one voice.
It does not speak.
It tears through the body,
asking nothing,
caring nothing.
It has waited far too long
to be heard.
Only afterwards
does the breath return.
