Before The Silence

Before The Silence abstract acrylic by Emma Procter

Acrylic on canvas

40 x 60cm

2026

Unframed

Artist's Comment:

"This painting has dense, overlapping layers, allowing marks to collide, interrupt and push against one another.  Some areas became compressed and enclosed, while others move rapidly across the surface.  I wanted to hold onto that unsettled energy rather than resolve it.  A sense of everything intensifying in the moments before the silence."

Poem for Before The Silence

There are moments

we never see arriving.

Nothing asks us to be ready.

Nothing tells us

that the ordinary world

is already beginning to disappear.

And yet,

everything that follows,

belongs to a different story.
