Fading abstract acrylic painting by Emma Procter

Acrylic on canvas

36 x 28cm

2026

Unframed

Artist's Comment:

"This painting developed through layers of ochre, deep green and darker tones, with areas repeatedly worked into and then allowed to fade.  Some marks remained dense and defined, while others became softer, broken and less certain.

As the painting developed, the forms began to feel as though they were appearing and disappearing across the surface, creating a sense of movement between what is present and what is beginning to fade."

Poem for Fading

Some things leave quietly,

not all at once,

but little by little.

Pieces remain,

holding their shape,

while others soften into absence.

There is no moment

when they are here and then gone,

only the space between,

where something remains

and something is already fading.
