Abstract acrylic painting Noticing in contemporary interior

Artist's Comment:

"I worked with flowing, gestural brush strokes, allowing them to move across the surface and leave quieter spaces in between.  Some marks became more defined while others remained fleeting, almost as though they might be missed.

I wanted the painting to hold that sense of becoming still enough to notice.  When we stop looking for something and begin to see what is already there.."

Poem for Noticing

There is a way of listening

that asks for more than our ears.

It begins when the world

grows quiet enough

for us to notice.

Then,

without a sound,

something begins to speak.

Not in words

carried on the air,

but in a language

that somehow becomes our own.

We thought

we were listening.

Perhaps we were also

being heard.
